As more of us become more conscious about our future planet and the environment, the need for ideas and support to change the way we shop, dress and live, including how we run our businesses is now a necessity.
Back in 2016, Stylist Roberta Lee gathered a list of fashion brands that met her strict ethics, aesthetics and sustainability criteria, little did she know back then she would go on to create something that has won the hearts and minds of so many.
Type in ‘Ethical Brand’ into Google and you’ll see Ethical Brand Directory (EBD) come up first. That’s because before it was a trend, ethical and sustainable fashion was a priority for her – even back then.
Today the directory has grown beyond fashion and into a global network reaching far and wide. It is a go-to place for ethical brands and conscious consumers.
On 18th July 2019, the team are excited to launch phase 1 of a long-awaited rebranded website which will be a vital resource for consumers looking for beautiful clothes and products that don’t cost the earth.
The Ethical Brand Academy which launched in beta will be open to the public with members being able to enjoy the benefits, training and support offered by Roberta and a team of Trusted Partners, all experts in their fields. The academy will help emerging brands and those willing to embrace the need to change, to embed ethics and sustainability into every aspect of their business.
The future for this exciting project looks promising, attracting a wide range of talent to the team. Ethical Investor Dr Rob Wylie (EBD Trusted Advisor) believes “EBD could provide one of the essential mechanisms for ensuring brands being ethical is the norm and not a fringe activity.”
Hannah Collacott, the founder of Fair Jewellery, joined the Ethical Brand Academy in February 2019 and has been very optimistic about the journey so far: “As an independent startup, I’ve found being part of the EBD family invaluable. The nurturing support, guidance and advice from the community are helping my business grow”.
