Stylist Picks July 2019
Check out this months carefully selected brands for the EBD feature by Sustainable stylist Roberta Lee
This months stylists picks celebrate timeless styles that can be worn no matter what time of the year it is - and follow no particular trends. They are what I call capsule worthy investments that will last over #100wears and still be relevant in your wardrobe in years to come.
First up we have the cutest flats in the world! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this brand and spoke to the founder Tanya and heard her reasons for starting the brand. I designed these shoes for myself when I was about 10, inspired by the bluetack that I used to put on the barbie shoes to stick on beads and accessories… Well, needless to say I am in LOVE with these.
Use code LOVEACCESSORIES at the checkout to get 2 FREE ACCESSORIES with the purchase of a pair of shoes, worth £50.
Super versatile and can be worn to the office, out for lunch, into the evening ...you can basically take them anywhere. They have a wide range of accessories which you can mix and match to update your style and give your daily outfits a bit more variety. My blush ones arrived the other day and I was impressed with the high level of craftsmanship of them. They really are made to be worn, I am confident these will surpass #100wears easily.
Their shoes are made from leather, so not suitable for vegans. Sizing is quite hard to figure out, so you may need to measure your feet first and ask before buying a pair. The downside to ordering online.
Versatile, super stylish and very safe for traveling in cities when worn as the backpack due to its unique zip and fastening system. I get loads of compliments whenever I wear it. I can fit in my reusable cup, make up, battery pack and even a small umbrella. They use deadstock leathers, recycle seatbelts and turn plastic bottles into material to make the lining of their bags - diverting waste from landfill. Every time you make a purchase from Belo you feed those in need in Belo Horizonte in Brazil.
I can’t fit in my reusable water bottle, it’s not big enough to carry a laptop, the zip catches my hair when I wear it down.
Super versatile and can be layered easily over a T-shirt or worn with a dress for a night out. It’s a piece that can be worn with other necklaces for a more dramatic statement. Wrap the chain around your neck twice for a shorter style too. Kipato Unbranded empowers locals inNairobi to learn the jewellery making craft and make their own living as local artisans, recycling brass and bone to make beautiful jewellery out of materials we’d consider to be waste.
Their pieces do need to be looked after as they can become a bit grubby after a few uses. All brass jewellery is the same, you can easily bring brass back to its original shine with some simple home hacks. Their website displays their local currency not UK currency, but rest assured they will ship to the UK.
