Christmas Activity – Socially Distanced Family Movie Night

Family movie night is definitely a tradition over Christmas. Many of us will be having a very different Christmas, separated from our extended family and friends, but all is not lost, we can at least do a movie night together, albeit virtually.

Setting up a Family Movie Night on Netflix Party!

It’s so easy. The first thing you have to do, (and very possibly the hardest) is to decide on a family movie you all agree on and set a date and time for your movie night.

Next, check out these simple instructions and set up your Netflix extension (we recommend Netflix as the extension we are suggesting is designed to support this particular streaming service).

For less stress, we recommend doing this in advance, but don’t worry, we can personally vouch for how easy this is. Make sure everyone taking part has the extension installed.

Finally, grab your popcorn (or a Christmas leftovers sandwich) and settle into the sofa for an interactive Netflix Party and share your thoughts and running commentary as you all watch together at the same time.

Note: This only works on computer devices, if you’ve got a fancy TV you may be able to connect your laptop to the TV and mirror the screen. Here’s a really great article that may help you

Christmas Movies Your Family Will Love

Picking a movie the whole family agrees on can be a challenge, so here is a rundown of some of the best feel-good family-friendly Christmas movies on Netflix this Christmas.

The Christmas Chronicles 2

If you haven’t already watched the first, we highly suggest you start there. The Christmas Chronicles stars real-life couple, Goldie Hawn and Kirt Russell.

Holidate

Another take on the classic Christmas romance, fed up with being single on holidays, two strangers agree to be each other’s platonic plus-ones all year long, only to catch real feelings along the way.

Klaus

If your kids are fans of Frozen, they will love this feel-good animation movie. After proving himself to be the worst postman at the academy, a postman is posted to a frozen town in the North where he discovers Santa Claus is hiding out.

Jingle Jangle

This is one for all you musical lovers, it follows a once joyful toymaker who finds new hope when his bright young granddaughter suddenly appears on his doorstep.

We hope you liked this idea as much as we did and are inspired to host your own family movie night. If you do, tell us below how you got on.
