Thank you for supporting GG2019, what were your reasons for wanting to get involved this year?
We were part of GG 2018 and loved it! Roberta, her team and the attendees brought some awesome energy. The fellow speakers were well informed and it served as a great platform for Green Story.
Where is home for you?
How easy is it to live sustainably where you live and work?
Toronto has pretty good infrastructure to enable me to work and live sustainably. Good public transit (despite all the delays) means at least transport can be low carbon. Lots of open spaces in the summer and our coworking space, the SocialVentures Zone, at Ryerson University is pretty green in how it operates.
What’s the hardest thing about living sustainably?
Having to plan ahead. A lot of everyday activities (like buying coffee) are not designed with sustainability in mind.
What’s small change in your life has made a big impact so far?
Taking time off every morning to learn and plan.
If you could have 3 eco-wishes granted what would they be?
Everyone switches to a green alternative to CFCs.
Bike lanes everywhere!
Every system becomes circular.
Who is your sustainability hero and why?
Steve Irwin. He’s one of those people who’s inspired a generation and sustainability truly starts from education.
Where do you hope we (as a collective on planet earth) will be by 2025?
More aware of the impact we have with our everyday choices and willing to take steps to lower it.
And finally what will be your Going Green Pledge be for 2019?
No more takeout coffee cups.
